Jubilee Church began in 1995 when John Lanferman and his wife Linda moved to St. Louis to lead a small group of people who were gathering in the city. Over a two-year period, we added new people and secured a consistent meeting place in Webster Groves. During the next several years the church lived with a sense for bigger things on the horizon, even though they didn’t seem attainable. Wednesday night prayer meetings were a staple of the church, and God showed His faithfulness time and time again. We felt stirred to pray for more people in their 20s, though we only had one member in that age group at that time. Several months later, we saw a number of people in their 20s added to the church as the Lord continued to build a strong base for things to come. The church grew steadily and so did John Lanferman's responsibilities outside Jubilee; therefore, in 2005, we named Bryan Mowrey as the Lead Pastor. During this period, we also began praying for a new building. We felt God wanted to give us a building in a more urban location that would enable us to reach more people than we could reach in Webster Groves. In 2006, God answered, and we purchased a building near the corner of Kingshighway Boulevard and Chippewa Street in the South City area. We completed renovation on the building and began holding Sunday morning meetings there in 2007. In 2009, the Jubilee city location found itself outgrowing its Sunday meeting space, so we switched from meeting at 10am to meeting at 9am and 11am to enable further growth. Since the founding of Jubilee Church, we have had a vision to see 20 locations across the St. Louis metropolitan area. After much preparation, we launched a second location in Wentzville led by Rick Hein in August of 2008. Since then, an increase of growth and vision has moved the Wentzville location to a new facility and given them a new name, the St Charles County Location. In 2010, we launched our third location in Washington, Missouri. In 2011, we named Steve Miles as the Location Pastor in Washington. As a church of nearly 500 in three locations, we are excited to see what the future has in store as we continue in our mission of connecting people to Jesus throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area. |
